The Dude Puked on My Lap: A Tribute to Hijrah AKA The Pilgrims [Coalitioners]
Carburetor Dung contributed a track called Johnny, which is taken from Hijrah’s 1990 demo tape called A Pilgrimage to Nowhere. The compilation, featuring loads of bands active in Terengganu such as dully dog, inikah hidup, sleepy jeremy, etc., comes free with the 5th issue of Coalition fanzine.

The original track by Hijrah (featuring the classic line-up of Lee, Abang, Hili & Mazuan) was a spontaneous affair with no actual lyrics, so we decided to do our own version with our own lyrics:

explanation:
In all these years being involved with local underground music scene, I sometimes received letters from kids that were amazingly funny. Some of them would write in an “official” manner, complete with the official letter formatting, asking to join the underground music scene! It is as if the scene is a registered body of association with the official membership and all that shit. And of course, usually they will end the letter with some “punk rock” slogans, i.e. “chaos”, “anarchy” etc.
For this song we put “Johnny” as a character that is being looked upon by the kids as some sort of a leader for the scene, so this guy wrote to him asking him for the “forms” to fill in and join in as a member of the scene, all the time telling Johnny how he has been to all the shows, bought all the tapes etc. and wonders why there’s no “joining the underground forms” being given out at gigs!
