RIP: Our old friend, Boy Punisher / Naked Butterfly

One of our old friends from the early days of the local scene died today.

Boy, guitarist of pioneer thrash metal band Punisher (he later on played for funk-rockers Naked Butterfly) died Sunday July 30th at home. He was electrocuted while fixing some lighting fixtures at his house in Cheras.

for those who were there in the early days and knew him well, Boy was a great guy, funny and full of life. When he joined Punisher in the late 80s, playing alongside his older brother Karim, he was one of the youngest guys in the scene then, hence the name “Boy” never left the man.

The last time I saw him play was at 2004’s I Thrash Therefore I Am reunion show; a joyous occasion where most of the veterans came out of retirement to play together.
